Do you only coach men?No! I coach both men and women.
-
Why do you focus on helping suffering men? That is a good question! I've pondered on it many times. I've also tried to let go of this focus because, after all, most men really don't want this kind of help (even though they need it). ;-) The real answer is because this is what God has seared into my heart. It's a passion I can't deny. This is how I get to make a difference. I believe it is sacred work. I hope men will see me as some-what of a kind-hearted aunt who is in their corner and just really, really wants the best for them. And who also happens to have all the missing pieces to their relationship struggles.

Who is life coaching for?Life coaching is for you if: You are ready to make more of your life. You are willing to be honest, open, and vulnerable. You are willing to face yourself, allow your humanness, and let go of self-judgment. You are tired of feeling stuck and want to make your life better. You are willing to do uncomfortable work. You want an intentional life rather than a default life. You are ready to forgive yourself and others for being imperfect humans. You are teachable. You have a desire to grow and evolve. Life coaching is NOT for you if: You want to hold on to your past. You want to play small or be protected from growth. You would rather stay in your comfort zone. You want to continue blaming others for your situation. You are not willing to acknowledge or address your emotions. You are not willing to slow down and be present. You want to fight for your limitations.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?Therapy: Focused on healing from the past Helps people get to a better functioning state Treatments for disorders Coaching: Focused more on the future than the past Takes people who are functioning and helps them excel Helps people identify what they truly want and what's in the way Therapy and coaching complement each other and many people utilize both. Attentive therapists will often refer clients to coaching when they have "graduated" from therapy.

Why work with a life coach?Life coaching isn't for everyone...It's only for people who want to improve some aspect of their life and haven't been able to do it on their own. A well-trained life coach… Doesn’t give you advice for what you should be doing in your life. Doesn’t know better than you how your life should be. Doesn’t tell you what you’re doing wrong. A well-trained life coach… Helps you identify what you want and why you haven’t already achieved it. Helps you overcome the things you haven’t been able to on your own. Shows you how you’re getting in your own way. Shows you the beliefs you have that are barriers to what you want.

Can I hire you to coach my employees?Yes! When your employees struggle with each other or with something in their personal life it affects how they do their job, right? You and your business suffer when your employees struggle. Providing coaching for your employees gives you a tremendous ROI because when your employees are in a better head-space they are much better employees and your business wins! This is best done by purchasing a package of sessions that can be used for anyone you choose. - Start by emailing mimiportercoaching@gmail.com - State how many sessions you want to purchase - You will receive an invoice for the sessions - Once the invoice is paid you will receive a scheduling link - Anyone with that link can schedule sessions until they are used
-
What happens in a coaching session? The short answer is: I will ask lots of questions for you to answer and there are no "right" or "wrong" answers. Here are some other things to note: I will ask you what you are wanting help with or struggling with. I will listen skillfully to your answers. I will help you focus in on specifics and get very factual, at times. I will often pause you (sometimes mid-sentence) in order to get clarity or to look closer at something you've said. I will teach you concepts and tools that are applicable to what you're wanting help with. I will help you uncover your own wisdom and tasks for moving forward.
-
Will you judge me for the things I tell you?Absolutely not! I can assure you that this is a completely safe space, free of judgment. I have worked with ALL kinds of people around the world and I have heard it ALL. I have deep respect for all the humans and their situations. There isn't anything you can bring that I will judge you for or be surprised by.

How can progress be made in only 30 minutes? Many people find it shocking. You'll really have to experience it for yourself. The main reason I can help you make progress in only 30 minutes is because of a formula I use to get clear about any problem you bring me. I call it the F-TEAR formula and you'll learn more about it as we work together. Everything in life fits into one element of the formula and then I ask questions to fill in the other elements. It all works together to give both of us great clarity for making amazing progress.

How are coaching sessions conducted?Sessions with me take place on Zoom. You will receive a Zoom link in a confirmation email after you book a session. You can use a computer, smartphone or tablet. It is preferable, but not required, for you to have your video on. Make sure you are in a position to give your full attention. Don't be doing things such as: driving, running, shopping.
-
How many sessions will I need? This all depends on what you are trying to change or accomplish. It's possible that one session will provide the help you're wanting. For this reason I do not require my clients to purchase packages or make a commitment of several months, like many other coaches do. In your first session we will discuss what you are wanting to work on and go from there.
-
How often should I have a session? This totally depends on you. I believe that my clients have great inner wisdom when they allow themselves to access it. Many of my clients schedule more than one session a week and others schedule monthly. I trust you to determine what is right for you. This is another reason why I simply make my schedule available and do not require packages or commitments.
-
What preparation do I need to make before my sessions? The short answer is: "Nothing." There is no pressure with a coaching session. Seriously. You can know exactly what you want to work on or you can have no idea. I've got you, either way. Some of my most powerful sessions have been with clients who came with nothing specific to work on. Try it! No problem if you're nervous. I'm almost always nervous when I'm being coached, too. However you show up to your session is awesome.
-
Will my sessions and my information be private?Absolutely! I will never share information about you. I will not share anything about working with you. You may tell people anything you want about our sessions, but I won't. See the Terms and Conditions for more information.
-
How does payment for coaching sessions work?Payment is made by credit card or PayPal when the session is booked.
-
What if I have to miss my session?Your confirmation email will include a link button to reschedule your session. You can reschedule up to 24 hours ahead. If you have a family or medical emergency, please email me at mimiportercoaching@gmail.com to give the facts of the situation. I will consider this on a case-by-case basis. You can allow someone else to attend the session by giving them your zoom link. Please send me an email if you're going to do this.
-
How do I get a Zoom link for our session? When you book a session, you will receive a confirmation email that includes the Zoom link. Make sure you carefully enter the correct email address when you book your sessions. Email overcomediscouragement@gmail.com if you do not receive a confirmation email.
-
Do I have to use a computer for our sessions? No. You don't have to use a computer. You can also use a smartphone or a tablet for our sessions. Be in a place where you can give your full attention. Do not be doing things like: driving, running or shopping.
-
Can I purchase sessions as a gift for someone? The short answer is Yes. Here are some things to keep in mind: Make sure the person you are giving the session to WANTS to be coached. Don't make assumptions for someone else that they would want coaching. Coaching is not for everyone. Coaching is only beneficial for people who are wanting to make a change and are willing to do the work of being open and honest.
