Performance anxiety shows up in many different ways.
For some performers, it looks like shaky hands, tight breathing, rushing, freezing, cracking notes, or losing control of skills they can usually do well. For others, it looks like overthinking, perfectionism, fear of mistakes, harsh self-judgment, or replaying every performance afterward. And more.
Sometimes students are well prepared for a performance, but the pressure gets so intense that they cannot access what they know.
In this 45-minute session, we will look closely at your specific set of circumstances and begin building practical tools to shift and improve things.
This session can help performers who:
-
Struggle with auditions, chair tests, solos, concerts, competitions, or rehearsals
-
Overthinking or spiraling after mistakes
-
Perform better in practice than in front of others
-
Get stuck in perfectionism or fear of disappointing people
-
Feel discouraged, embarrassed, or disconnected from music because of pressure
-
Want to perform with more confidence, freedom, and consistency
As a coach, it is not my goal to lower performance expectations or decrease a student's responsibility. Performers still need to prepare, work hard, and meet real demands.
The goal is to reduce the internal pressure that makes those demands feel heavier than they need to be and makes performing harder than it already is.
Together, we will focus on helping you:
-
Understand what is happening when anxiety takes over
-
Separate normal performance demands from unnecessary internal pressure
-
Learn simple reset tools that can be used before and during performance
-
Respond to mistakes without spiraling
-
Build a healthier relationship with performing, practicing, and progress
-
Feel more grounded, capable, and connected to why you started music in the first place
This session is a good fit for people who want practical, non-shaming support for performance anxiety.
You do not need to have anything figured out before scheduling. We will start with what is happening now and identify the next best step.
Important Note:
These sessions are educational and coaching-based. Coaching is not therapy, counseling, or medical treatment. If a student is experiencing severe anxiety, panic attacks, depression, trauma symptoms, or thoughts of self-harm, please seek support from a licensed mental health professional.
